Incredibles 2 set to conquer the box office and hearts

Modern family: keeping calm on the home front while fighting the bad guys. It's all in a day's work for a family of superheroes

14 years after the Oscar winning animated “The Incredibles” swooped into the box office the sequel is finally in theaters, and all I can say is, it was worth the wait. The Parr family, Helen, Bob, Violet, Dash and baby Jack-Jack are back in theaters and just as fabulous as ever. The sequel picks up where the original left off and the roller coaster ride starts from there. It’s still illegal for superheroes to do what they’re good at, but one wealthy super fan has an idea to turn things around.  He hires Helen, aka Elasti-girl to begin winning the hearts and minds of the public.

And so the Parr family dynamic changes. Mom is off, out of town fighting crime, and a villain called the “Screen Slaver”. Dad is home with the kids, and he’s finding that although he's Mr. Incredible to the world, it’s not that easy, to deal with a prepubescent daughter, an energetic son, and a baby boy that has a lot of energy, i.e. his own set of really unsettling super-powers would challenge even the ever adept Helen.

The juxtaposition of the mid-20th-century aesthetic with modern day child care dilemmas is just one of the many charming elements in this funny, warm and action-packed animated film. Holly Hunter and Craig T. Nelson reprise their voice roles as Bob and Helen Parr, aka Mr. Incredible and Elasti-girl.  Samuel L. Jackson reprises his role at the coolest super-guy on the block, Frozone.

It's not often I say this about a film, but Incredibles 2 really does have something for everyone. It's sure to win the box office and maybe even a few awards along the way.
